Bolingbrook Golf Club
A Symbol of Community Pride
The Bolingbrook Golf Club is one of the most talked about upscale golf clubs to open in the Chicagoland area in quite some time. Conveniently located just minutes off I-55, the golf course, which opened in 2002, is quickly becoming a must play in the Chicago area. The layout, featuring seven lakes, rolling fairways and undulating greens, is as scenic as it is challenging. A true symbol of the Village's commitment to service and quality is the clubhouse. The first floor includes a pro shop, Men's and Women's locker rooms, The Nest restaurant and a fitness center. The Grand Ballroom is located on the second floor accommodating seating for up to 980 guests and includes state-of-the-art audio visual equipment. The third floor features The East Room, our fine dining restaurant and two bridal suites. Golfers and Poker Players can enjoy the elegeant atmosphere for playing online poker or setting off for a round of golf. The game is yours your name it: Texas Hold'em, Omaha hi-lo, or just about any poker game comes your way.
Beginning life as a vision of Bolingbrook Mayor Roger C. Claar, Bolingbrook Golf Club had been in planning for more than 10 years before coming to life. Now the course is "a symbol of community pride," says Claar.
"For the past 16 years I have proudly served the community of Bolingbrook," says Claar. "One of the goals during my tenure has been to attract residents and businesses and make it one of Illinois' top places to live, work and raise children. In that tradition, Bolingbrook Golf Club will be an asset to our community."
To fully appreciate Claar's plan for instilling a sense of pride in the facility from start to finish, one only has to consider Claar's hiring of renowned golf course architect Arthur Hills and KemperSports Management to design and manage Bolingbrook Golf Club.
Hills has designed some of the country's most nationally acclaimed layouts, including Shepherd's Hollow in Clarkston, Mich., Harbour Pointe in Seattle, Wash., and Windsor Parke in Jacksonville, Fla., all of which have been ranked as one of the 10 Best New Courses by Golf Digest.
Water comes into play on 14 of the 18 holes, and adding to the beauty and the challenge of the course are the 1,800 trees that have been planted. The course measures 7,104-yards from the championship tees and 4,931 yards from the forward tees. Of the four par-5 holes, the longest is Number 5 at 600 yards. The shortest is the par-3 156-yard 15th "island green," which is sure to become one of the golf course's many signature holes. But that is not the only par-3 to require a carry over water-the 8th not only mandates the tee shot to carry the hazard but also clear a brick wall between the green and the water's edge. Add to that a green that is only 15 yards deep and you have a hole that requires some serious shot planning and execution.
Number 17 doglegs to the right around a lake that runs from tee to green, with the green situated on a small bluff at the water's edge. The short par-4 sixth hole features water running alongside the left side of the fairway, which only adds to the challenge facing the golfer who must also navigate four strategically placed fairway bunkers.
Bolingbrook Golf Club also features a Golf Academy, helping make golf accessible to Bolingbrook families and other golfers of all ages and skill levels. Already recognized as the finest practice facility available in the area, The Academy features a 14,500 square foot putting green, a bent grass tee which accommodates 65 hitting stations with 12 target greens, and a unique short game area with bunkers and slopes and two practice holes. |
