Eaglewood Resort & Spa
The Little Green Menace
Doral Eaglewood Resort & Spa, "Chicago's Newest Play Around Escape," opens Doral Eaglewood Golf Course this spring offering its first full season with renovations complete. The new resort, within 35 minutes of downtown Chicago, unveils the on-property, USGA-certified course-depicted by rolling hills, steep greens and strategically placed water hazards-with rounds starting as low as $28.
Originally built in 1928, golfers who have played the former Nordic Hills course discover the improved quality of play through more water, more definition and added length. Lined with 100-year-old white and pin oak trees, winding along three lakes and Salt Creek, water now comes into play on eight of the 18 holes. Giving definition and character to the narrow, contoured fairways and smooth bentgrass greens are 69 bunkers offering several elevation changes from tee to green on the par-72, Doral Eaglewood course. Severely sloping greens earn the course the nickname of, "The Little Green Menace." Boasting 6,017 yards and a signature island green 6th hole, the tight course provides a competitive round.
"Doral Eaglewood Golf Course combines a scenic course with enjoyable play, minutes away from Chicago," states Tim Foley, general manager for the resort. "We have been looking forward to adding fully-complete golf this spring since the resort opened."
Andy Carr, director of golf, bringing 18 years of experience in the Illinois area, organizes tournaments, league play and individual or group lessons.
Annual unlimited golf memberships are available including discounts off greens and cart fees, pro shop merchandise, restaurants, all recreational amenities and a locker for the season.
